Our Tale of the Month |
This month we have some recent guest comments to share with you.
|
This is a letter of recommendation for The Eagles Nest retreat and the Eagles Nest Retreat II. In February 2009 my long time wife and I "tied the knot' over the most stunning backdrop imaginable.
When we looked at our options for getting married we decided we didn't want a traditional wedding for two reasons; we didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money and we only wanted those people who meant the world to us to attend.
A brief search on Google and I found the site for the Eagles Nests. We rang Des and Diane and arranged to fly down that weekend from Melbourne. As soon as we walked into the building we knew this was where we were going to be getting married, the views were stunning and I mean stunning. We stayed in Nest II that night and the building itself is an amazing piece of work with everything from the rooms to the kitchen being finished to the highest of standards.
We also were taken for a tour of Nest I the next day and found it unique but equally as brilliant as the other nest. We booked both Nests for the following February.
The communication with Des leading up to the date was always great whether it was via phone or email. Once we arrived it was no different with Des being there to greet us and making sure all our needs were met, going out of his way at every possible opportunity.
On our big day Des turned up and made sure absolutely everything went to plan even helping the caterer serve the dinner, top up drinks and anything else that needed attention. We can't thank Des enough for his assistance that day.
Both of the Nests are amazing places and are so relaxing, we would recommend that anyone thinking of getting married consider this style of wedding call Des and arrange an inspection or even stay the night. The wedding we had was so cheap in comparison to a lot of our friends whose weddings ranged from $15k - $40.. Our wedding cost $6280 which I will itemize for you
Airfares for both of us return to Melbourne - $100
Suit - $900
Sally's Dress - $300
Hire Car for 3 days - $150
Accommodation
1 Night Nest I x 3 people
2 Nights Nest II x 8 people
2 Nights B.O.G Cottage x 5 people
Total Accommodation - $3200
Alcohol & Nibbles - $350
Caterer - $1080
Photographer - $200
As you can see our wedding was very cheap and included 2 night's accommodation for 13 guests and 1 night for the other 5, I wore an expensive suit which brought the cost up and we also paid for everyone's accommodation which are areas you could save even more money on if you so wish.

I am happy to talk to anyone about our wedding day if this will help you make your decision easier; please ask Des or Diane for contact details.
Kind Regards
Gareth and Sally Kalber
